ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

ACCESS BY DESIGN.

The accessibility target of WAE HQ and the practices actually implemented. A target is not a certification: this page distinguishes what WAE aims for from what WAE has certified.

TARGET — NOT CERTIFICATION

WAE HQ targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility. This is a design and engineering target, not a claim of certified, audited, or formally verified conformance. WAE has not completed a formal accessibility audit or certification for this site, and this page does not claim one.

"Target" means WAE designs and builds toward that level and keeps regressions in view; it does not mean every page has been independently certified against every WCAG 2.2 AA success criterion.

PRACTICES ACTUALLY IMPLEMENTED

  • Semantic structure — landmark elements, heading hierarchy with exactly one level-1 heading per page, and native HTML controls rather than scripted substitutes.
  • Skip link — a "Skip to content" control is the first focusable element on every page.
  • Visible focus — interactive elements carry `:focus-visible` styling.
  • Reduced motion — the reveal animations and transitions respect `prefers-reduced-motion: reduce`.
  • Language — every page declares `lang="en"`.
  • Accessible names — navigation regions, icon controls, and live announcements carry ARIA labels where their meaning is not otherwise evident.
  • Keyboard access — navigation, menus, and the Ask WAE interface are operable without a pointer device.

These are implemented in the site's source and shipped output. This list describes what exists; it is not a conformance report.

KNOWN BOUNDARIES

WAE HQ publishes a substantial archive of historical media and images. Where historical or legacy content predates current accessibility practice, WAE preserves it verbatim as a historical record rather than silently altering evidence. Descriptions and alternatives are provided where WAE authors them; completeness across every archived asset is not certified.

No accessibility statement can guarantee every combination of browser, assistive technology, and content type.

This statement is effective as of September 21, 2026. If WAE completes a formal audit or certification in the future, this page will be updated to state what was certified, when, and against which criteria.
