Every figure on this site points to a record. This note follows one of them from source file to public page: WAE-CLM-2026-002, the Wild Animal Encounters Instagram ledger.
1. Start from the platform's own export
The source is a Meta/Instagram lifetime export for the Wild Animal Encounters account, with a declared window of 2025-11-18 to 2026-07-15. We do not retype numbers from screenshots when a file exists.
2. Fingerprint the file
Before anything is counted, the file's SHA-256 digest is checked against the digest declared when it was taken in. The public record shows a truncated form of that digest, so the same file can be recognised later without publishing it.
3. Count, then add up
The export contains 1,269 distinct content assets (Post IDs). The sum of its per-asset Views column is 272,807,236 views. An audit found zero empty cells across all 1,269 rows in the metric columns used.
4. Write the limits down
The record states what it cannot support:
- It covers Instagram only, and only the declared window.
- View totals follow the platform's own definition of a view.
- The raw rows stay in WAE's governed evidence store; only approved aggregate facts are public.
- It does not, on its own, support the larger cross-source total, which has its own record.
5. Publish an aggregate anyone can explore
The field draws every one of the 1,269 assets as a cell, shaded by how far it travelled, from an aggregate-only derivative of the same export. No captions, timestamps or identifiers are exposed.
Why this matters
A claim without a record is an opinion. A record with a fingerprint, a count and written limits is something a journalist, a partner or a sceptic can check. It is also the discipline we are building into WAE Agentic Media OS, where every decision is meant to carry its history. WAE is not yet onboarding external customers; the early-access list records your interest.
